On May 13, 2019, the Themed Forum for 1st Anniversary of Western China Campus of Taobao University was held to great fanfare in Chengdu under the core theme of "E-commerce Propels Export of Sichuan Merchandise," with news app The Cover and Taobao University as the sponsor and Western China Campus of Taobao University as the organizer. A well-known food and catering enterprise,Shooloongkan was the only Sichuan-style hot pot brand to be invited for attendance. On-site at the event, Shooloongkan joined a large number of other famous Sichuan brands and companies in a dialogue about the competitiveness of online retailers in Sichuan Province and their development prospects.
At the forum, General Manager of The Cover Cao Feng introduced to attendees about the efforts that the Western China Campus of Taobao University has contributed to bolstering the export of Sichuan merchandises since the school's inception about a year ago. At present, Taobao University has carried out 300 large-scale trainings within Sichuan, conducted more than 50 sessions of customized training, formed strategic partnerships with over ten leading Sichuan local enterprises and signed contracts with branded schools. At the same time, Taobao University has also forged strategic cooperation with more than ten district, municipal and county governments for joint establishment of e-commerce training bases and county-level e-commerce human resource training so as to continue enlarging the pool of human resources conducive to propelling the sales of Sichuan merchandises outside Sichuan.
Looking back at the past year, Sichuan recorded 3.3 trillion yuan in e-commerce transaction, a climb of 19.6% compared to the year before and ranking first in central and western China. Of which, online retail soared by 28.6% to RMB 427.1 billion. Within the online retail structure, online retail of physical goods amounted to RMB 234.11 billion and accounting for 54.8% of total online retail sales, while the remaining 40.2% or RMB 192.81 billion was ascribed to online retail of services. Behind this array of pleasantly surprising numbers is a constantly rising demand for e-commerce talents in Sichuan.
At the forum, Shooloongkan and 1919.cn, a massive Chinese alcoholic beverage sales platform and notable unicorn, took to the stage and shared experiences and accomplishments, fully demonstrating the prowess of Chengdu enterprises, charisma of local brands and new retail plans and developments with sights set on the global market. Ms. Rong Xing, the Vice General Manager of the New Retail Business Group of Shooloongkan Holdings Group, shared with guests on-site the feats achieved from a strategic tie-up between Shooloongkan and Taobao University, development groundwork for new retail in the food and beverage industry, and models that will connect online and offline channels in the future. On December 12, 2018, Western China Campus of Taobao University and Shooloongkan jointly founded a branded school, and the company raised operation efficiency via the restructuring of human resource, merchandise and venue. This marks not only the growth of an enterprise and a brand, but also an exchange and a collision of wisdom between traditional food and catering industry and Alibaba's new retail model against the backdrop of consumption upgrade and transformation.
2019 is the fifth year for the Sichuan Merchandise Nationwide Corporate Campaign. In order to further expand sales channel and propel a larger quantity of Sichuan merchandises to sell outside of Sichuan, Western China Campus of Taobao University will continue to focus on the cultivation and incubation of relevant human resources, and dedicate itself to new retail upgrade and digitized transformation of e-commerce enterprises within the territory of Sichuan Province. By way of a tiered education and training system, the school will target and address specific issues, offer viable e-commerce and internet pathways for start-up firms in the Sichuan region, and provide solutions to local industries. At the same time, the school also endeavors to provide Taobao University's intelligence support to local government bodies and large-scale academic institutions in order to empower e-commerce in Sichuan! As a Chengdu-born food and beverage brand, Shooloongkan also hopes to stand firm in Sichuan, serve the globe as "the Shooloongkan of the world," sail forward on the tailwind of new retail alongside other outstanding brands and actualize new breakthroughs!
